Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Club led by Club Chairman Paul Njuguna and Head Coach Esther Jepkosgei jetted back into Nairobi from Cairo this morning. The team were the bronze medalists at the just concluded 37th Africa Women’s Volleyball Club Championships. Their return to Nairobi was met with jubilation and pride, as the team’s performance in Cairo showcased their prowess and determination on the international stage.
In a fiercely contested tournament that saw teams vying for supremacy, Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Club exhibited grit and resolve in every match they played. Despite facing formidable opponents, they remained steadfast in their pursuit of victory, showcasing their technical proficiency and strategic prowess throughout the tournament.
Head Coach Esther Jepkosgei could not hide her joy at the team’s performance. “As a team, we are incredibly proud of our bronze finish at the 37th Africa Women’s Volleyball Club Championships. It’s a testament to our hard work, dedication, and resilience throughout the tournament. This achievement is not just about the medal; it’s about the journey, the lessons learned, and the bonds forged. We will cherish this moment and use it as motivation to strive for even greater success in the future,” she said.
The highlight of their campaign came in the bronze medal match against KCB, where KPC delivered a stellar performance defeating their opponents 3 – 1 (18-25, 25-21,25-16,25-16) to secure a podium finish. It was a moment of triumph and celebration as the team’s hard work and dedication paid off, cementing their status as one of the top volleyball clubs on the continent.
Moreover, amidst their collective success, individual accolades shone brightly for the team. Triza Atuka’s outstanding performance saw her being recognized as the best blocker of the tournament, an indication to her exceptional talent and contribution to the team’s success. Triza was excited about her win stating, “I am humbled by this win.
I want to thank God, my teammates, the technical bench and Kenya Pipeline Company for giving me an opportunity to play and excel at volleyball.” Her achievement not only reflects her dedication to the sport but also serves as an inspiration to aspiring volleyball players across the nation.
As the team returns home with their heads held high and medals gleaming, Club Chairman Paul Njuguna noted, “We return to Nairobi with our heads held high and hearts filled with pride. The bronze finish at the Women’s Volleyball Club Championships is a testament to our team’s skill and dedication and also a reflection of the spirit within the Club. I want to thank the whole team for their unwavering commitment and devotion, our coaching staff for their guidance and expertise, and KPC management for their unwavering support.”
The team will take a few days to rest then resume practice for the upcoming Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) 4th national league later in the month.
